Hi friends,

Today is a little difficult, but only because of I’ve been a part of something so wonderful for the past 18 years.  Today is the Appalachian Ballet Company‘s opening school performance of it’s 2013 The Nutcracker.  This will be the first time in 18 years that I haven’t been a part of it.  It’s crazy to think it has been a part of my holiday tradition for so many years.  It seems odd that Christmas is less than a month away and I haven’t heard waltz of the flowers or any other part of The Nutcracker almost daily for the past two months!

Even the two years I wasn’t able to dance in the Appalachian Ballet’s The Nutcracker, I made it to see a performance.  But this year is different.  Timing for my move across country has meant not being able to travel back home to see it.  But it is only hard because it is something so wonderful.  Merde to all of the girls dancing today.  Please know that you are all a part of something amazing–something amazing because you make it so.  You are the one and only Appalachian Ballet Company.  You will have these memories for the rest of your lives.  This morning I’ll be thinking of you all while playing Let it Snow and driving (possibly in the snow!) instead of doing plies on stage during warm up. :-)

Merde to you all!

Ashley

Hi friends,

Today is the big day!  I’m leaving for a road trip from Indialantic, FL to Denver, CO today.  I’m picking up my best friend at the airport in Orlando and then we’ll be on our way!  Check out #ashleymichelleadventure on Instagram if you’d like to follow our road trip. :-)  Denver, here I come!  I’m so excited to be starting a new chapter in my life and couldn’t be happier that I’m getting to move out to Denver.  I just love this city.

I came across the above photo of Denver at sunset on Toby Harriman on Flickr.  He has an amazing photography portfolio.  Check it out for some fresh inspiration today.  :-)  Here are some of my favorites:

Hi friends,

My life is a bit of a whirlwind this week.  I got in from Nashville late last night and spent today packing as much as possible.  I head out to Denver Wednesday morning–just three more days until the big move!

After sharing Thanksgiving table settings last week, I wanted to post our Thanksgiving table setting.  My brother’s girlfriend did such a lovely job decorating that I just had to share!  Actually, the entire Thanksgiving dinner and weekend were just lovely.  I hope yours were as well!

Hi friends,

Thanksgiving may be over, but it’s still the holiday season and what could be better than PUMPKIN?!  Today I want to share a link to Sugar Blossoms’ 50 Fabulous Fall Recipes, featuring tons of pumpkin recipes you’ve probably never tried. :-)

Have I mentioned how much I loooooove pumpkin?  I think I have.  I totally agree with Sugar Blossoms’ opening comment: “I Freakin’ LOVE Pumpkin!”  There is always at least one can of pumpkin in my pantry, no matter what time of year it is.  This may be because it took me forever to figure out that canned pumpkin is usually kept with other canned pie fillings in grocery stories.  Probably because I usually make things like pumpkin bread, pumpkin cake, or pumpkin butter, I always looked for it with canned vegetables.  It comes in a can, it’s a vegetable, and I never make pumpkin pie.  (Yes, I eat pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, but my mom has always been the one to make it.)  So until a couple of years ago, I could only find canned pumpkin in the specialty aisles during the holidays.  So every time I’d go to the store around the holidays, I’d pick up an extra can of pumpkin, leaving my pantry fully stocked with probably a dozen cans of pumpkin for the new year.

So now, even though I could go out and buy pumpkin whenever I need it by simply going to the baking aisle, I still feel this sense of urgency and need to have an extra can in my pantry.  Plus, who knows, I may come down with an acute pumpkin craving and need to make pumpkin cookies or the like right then! :-)

Hi friends,

As many of you already know, I’m about to move across the county–okay, maybe 2/3 the way across the country, from the Melbourne, FL area to Denver.  I’m super excited about going out to Denver.  There are so many reasons I could list–with so many things to do in the city and the mountains just a short drive away–but one thing I am particularly excited about is having my own office and studio space again!  I’ve been staying with my mom for the past few months in between moves, and while I’m especially grateful for that, the dining table has been my daytime office and studio space.

Needless to say it’s not the most productive or inspiring work space.  So I can’t wait to set up my own space as soon as I get out to Denver and I’ve been looking for some organizing and decor inspiration.  I came across Liz Marie’s DIY Wood and Wire Art Display.  I love this idea!  I’m definitely going to try to incorporate it.  I may try using a framed, cloth covered bulletin board in place of the wood planks.  We’ll see.  Either way, I think this is lovely.  I’ll let you all know how it turns out in the coming weeks!

Hi friends,

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!  I hope you have a lovely day with your family, friends, and whoever else you’re spending time with.  I’m thankful for my family and my friends.  I’m also so thankful for my readers and my Etsy shop customers.  You all are the best!  I love that my shop gives me a creative outlet and it’s a wonderful feeling to have someone want to purchase something you created.  It’s also a great joy to collaborate with those fellow creatives who purchase custom orders and together we come up with something great!

I’m also ever so thankful to be about to start a new chapter in my life, moving out to Denver next week!  Don’t worry–my blog will stay and my shop will stay.  (Ahh, the beauty of the Internet and online shops!)  I hope they grow as much over the coming year as they have the past, so I can be even more thankful next year! :-)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi friends,

Just one more day until Thanksgiving! Are you ready? Or are you trying to pack in all of your last-minute to-do’s?  Today, I’m heading to my brother’s in Nashville for Thanksgiving.  So I’ll be there to help with whatever is needed, but no planning required. :-)

I want to share one last Thanksgiving table setting idea: a green and natural Thanksgiving table setting by Sophia’s Decor.  I love the fresh greens used and just had to share.  And even though this is probably too late for your Thanksgiving table ideas for this year, there’s always next year.  And Christmas is just around the corner–have you thought of using a heavily green color palette for your Christmas dinner table setting?
